August 2005, Beach Replenishment

       

      

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Beach replenishment began the third week of August.  If you enlarge the pictures you will be able to notice how far the shore line will grow. In the last picture you can get an idea of the new width of the sand dunes.  Barring any stormy weather or equipment break-downs the project is expected to take about 60 days to complete. 


Fenwick Freeze  January 1, 2005

 

The First Annual Fenwick Freeze, January 1, 2005... the air temperature was near 70˚ and over   135 people gave a donation to jump into the Atlantic Ocean for the benefit of the Fenwick Island Lighthouse.

Councilman Theo Brans, Mayor Peter Frederick & Senator Tom Carper.  Senator Carper was in Town to announce beach replenishment funding for Fenwick Island.

This 400lb harp seal arrived at the Fenwick Island State Park on March 1, 2004 for an overnight stay.  Learn more about harp seals.

Hurricane Isabel, September 2003...

after, the relief!   Fenwick Island was very fortunate, just a little flooding from high tides and some minor beach erosion.
