2008 TRASH SCHEDULE
Apr 28, 2008 - Sept 25, 2008 Monday & Thursday
September 29, 2008 ~Monday pick-up only
2008 Heavy Trash & Appliance Pick-up
June 9, 10, & 11
September 10, 11, & 12
It has been our experience that many residents will take this opportunity to clean garages and clean yards of trimmings, while others gather the attic treasures that have accumulated over the years that have become expendable. Most if not all of these items can be placed out for the regular trash pick-ups throughout the summer, which will expedite the removal of the larger and heavier items in a timely manner.
Please feel free to call me at 539-3011 if our department can be of any assistance to you or we can answer any of your questions of concerns.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
-
All trash, rubbish, and garbage shall be placed in covered plastic or metal containers, not to exceed 32 gallons in size or 50 pounds in weight when filled, and shall be water tight to prevent leakage and covered to exclude water. [Amended 8/2000]
-
All bramble, sticks, tree trimmings and the like shall be securely tied together in bundles, each of which shall not exceed 50 pounds in weight or or four feet in length.
Keep in mind that it is extremely dangerous to mix household hazardous materials with regular trash. Property owners may drop off these hazardous materials at the Southern Solid Waste Authority located on
Route 20 west of Millsboro on the first Saturday of May. A list of these materials can be obtain at Town Hall.
Grass Cutting
The predominate height of grass and/or weeds is not to exceed 10 inches. Each owner shall be required to cut the weeds and grass on his/her lot and remove rubbish which may accumulate there. The predominant height of grass and/or weeds shall not exceed 10 inches. All lots east of Delaware 1 which have been planted with commercial grass to establish a lawn, shall be required to cut.
Other lots east of Delaware 1 shall not be required to cut because the natural vegetation helps prevent sand erosion, and helps stabilize the soil. The sandy nature of the soil minimizes the mosquito problem. If you need someone to cut your grass, please call Town Hall and we will give you a list of licensed grass cutters.
Welcome!
